Configure early-renewal and billing-cycle discounts

hosting-suite, resellers

Renewal discounts can reward an eligible early renewal or a change of billing cycle. Define the qualifying action, currency and timing precisely, then simulate representative services before publishing the offer.

01 Add a discount

  1. Open Hosting Renewals, select Discounts and choose Add discount.
  2. Enter a customer-readable name and select the products, or deliberately leave the scope global.
  3. Choose Apply on action: billing cycle change or early renewal payment.
  4. Set the percentage or fixed amount and the currency. Create appropriate separate rules for other currencies.
  5. For a cycle change, choose qualifying source and destination cycles and whether the discount is one time or recurring. For early renewal, set the qualifying day range and cycles.
  6. Review effective dates, priority and stacking policy. Select Review changes, give a meaningful reason and save.

02 Explain when a customer qualifies

An early-renewal discount is assessed when the customer confirms the renewal within the configured window. A customer who confirmed a qualifying offer can retain that invoice discount even if payment arrives after the promotional window. Do not describe the rule as a bank-settlement deadline unless your workflow actually enforces one.

Early-renewal discounts are one time. A recurring cycle-change discount continues under its applicable cycle conditions and affects the future recurring amount. Verify what happens when the customer later changes away from that cycle.

03 Review stacking and fixed amounts

Without stacking, the winning eligible discount is selected according to scope and priority. With stacking, eligible discounts at the winning specificity level apply in order to the remaining amount. Product-specific and global offers do not simply add together in every case.

A fixed discount is taken once per renewal, rather than automatically once for every month purchased. It cannot exceed the renewal price. Minimum totals in a price rule can also limit the final offer.

04 Test the offer

Use Simulate a service on the price rules page with dates inside and outside the offer window. Check the correct source cycle, target cycle, currency, discount name and future amount. Include a service that previously used a one-time offer and one with an existing recurring discount.

Review Discount details on invoice and inspect an example invoice so the discount is understandable. Existing issued invoices retain their saved amount after later rule changes.

05 Example: test an early-renewal window on both sides

Your company has approved a one-time early-renewal offer for a selected hosting product. For a test scenario, define eligibility from 14 to 30 days before renewal and use your approved discount value.

  1. Open Hosting Renewals > Discounts > Add discount.
  2. Name the rule Early renewal test and select the intended product and currency.
  3. Choose early renewal payment, set the qualifying day range and review dates, priority and stacking.
  4. Use Review changes, record the reason and save.
  5. Simulate one service 21 days before renewal and another seven days before it.

Expected result: the first qualifies and the second does not. Inspect the invoice discount and remember that qualification is assessed when the customer confirms the eligible renewal.

Why might the system refuse a renewal discount?

Check overlapping rules and priorities. Resolve an ambiguous configuration by setting the intended priority or explicit stacking policy, then simulate again. Do not add duplicate offers merely to work around a validation message.
