Products & policies controls what customers can do when renewing an eligible product. Review these settings as a commercial policy, because they determine early payments, cycle changes, reminders and cancellation links.

- Enable renewal configuration for the intended product.
- Review Allow auto renewal change, Allow upfront renewal and Allow billing cycle change.

- Review client links, notifications, cancellation and combined-renewal options, then select Save changes.
02 Choose cycle behaviour deliberately
Available cycles include one, three, six, twelve, twenty-four and thirty-six months. The allowed list limits both renewal choices and cycle changes. Upfront renewal determines whether the customer can pay several periods at once; turning it off does not necessarily remove every alternate billing cycle.
The renewal time limit controls how far ahead a service can be paid, counted from today. A zero value removes that limit. Set a value that fits your pricing commitments and operational plans rather than leaving an unreviewed unlimited horizon.
An Automatic cycle target can schedule the cycle used by automatic renewals. A service-specific scheduled change takes precedence. Review the timing control and the displayed invoice date before using it across existing customers.
03 Review automatic renewal and cancellation
Disable auto renewal by default affects new orders placed through the cart. It does not retrospectively rewrite existing services or services added manually by staff. Individual service preferences remain important.
An immediate cancellation link creates a normal WHMCS cancellation request; your WHMCS automation controls when termination occurs. Explain this accurately and ensure the request permission and display option both match your policy.
How should I verify a bulk renewal-policy change?
For selected products, Change settings applies the fields you change while mixed values remain unchanged. Review individual failures afterward. Copying a product policy has broader scope and can include hosting tools and price settings, so inspect Review changes before approving a copy.
Finally, open a test service on each materially different product and inspect its renewal options. Test a long renewal period and an alternate cycle so that unavailable or incorrectly priced choices are caught before customers use them.
