The Virtualmin integration associates a WHMCS service with its virtual server and hosting account. It reads that identity before exposing customer tools, so the main domain and account username in WHMCS must represent the actual Virtualmin service.

01 Prepare the API connection
Virtualmin's remote API uses authenticated requests to the Webmin/Virtualmin service, normally over HTTPS on port 10000. Use the account authorised to call that API according to Virtualmin's current documentation. Its remote administration requirements differ from cPanel API tokens; do not paste a cPanel-style token into a Virtualmin server and expect it to work.
Use a hostname with a valid certificate. Restrict server access to the systems that need it, and keep credentials in the WHMCS server record. The API can perform powerful administrative operations, even though the customer workspace exposes only its implemented service functions.
02 Configure and verify the service
- Save the Virtualmin server hostname, port and authorised login in WHMCS > System Settings > Servers.
- Enable Virtualmin in the suite's Hosting platforms settings.
- Open the server's Connection profile, choose Virtualmin and the appropriate credential-reading mode, then save.
- Compare the test service's main domain, username and assigned server with Virtualmin.
- Choose Verify and link under Existing accounts.
- Open the account workspace, check the domain and supported lists, and test a permitted change on a service you own.
03 Set realistic product features
The common tools include domains, subdomains, aliases, email accounts, databases, FTP, account password, resource information and eligible sign-in. Database engine availability follows the server. PHP and SSL pages provide supported visibility; cPanel-specific management tools do not become Virtualmin functions because their product switches exist elsewhere.
The regular hosting application integration uses Virtualmin's web-application scripts, with the installation, removal and upgrade operations offered by this adapter. Application-product creation through the suite's separate builder is currently a cPanel workflow.
What should I check before changing a Virtualmin account link?
For a connection error, check API authentication, HTTPS trust, outbound access from WHMCS and Virtualmin's permission to execute the requested remote program. For an identity error, confirm that the WHMCS service is assigned to the correct virtual server rather than another domain owned by the same person.
Do not bypass a mismatch by changing a customer's domain to whichever result appeared first. Correct the service record or remote provisioning issue, then verify again. Use the exact service reference and failing action when contacting support.
