Keep marketgoo's competitor list focused on websites reaching the same audience for services you actually provide. Review the list when the business changes, while preserving enough continuity to interpret progress.

01 Add or refine the list
- Choose a service category and important customer location. Identify businesses or content sites that appear for the relevant searches.
- In the web application, open Competition and Add a Competitor. Some partner layouts place competitor management under Settings.
- Enter the correct competitor domain or select a relevant suggestion. Confirm the site is active and genuinely useful for comparison.
- If using the eligible WordPress plugin, open Analyze, find Your competition and select Manage your competitors.
- Compare the available rankings and other metrics. Record practical opportunities such as an unanswered customer question or a clearer service explanation.
- Remove irrelevant entries within the plan's allowance and record the change date. Keep separate notes for competitors serving a different market or product range.
02 Choose competitors that make the comparison useful
A competitor list should reflect the searches and customers you actually want to reach. For a local catering business, a nearby provider offering the same service may be a more useful comparison than a national supermarket with a much larger website.
Start with the specific product, service area and customer intent. Check that each candidate's website is active and relevant. Record why you included it so that a later report is not interpreted as a league table of unrelated businesses.
How should I use the findings?
Look for practical gaps such as an unclear service page, missing location information or weak explanations of what a customer receives. Improve your own content using accurate business facts. Do not copy another site's wording, reviews, photographs or claims.
A change in a comparison metric is a reason to investigate, not proof that a competitor's recent edit caused the movement. Review the reporting period and available data before acting.
If you bought marketgoo through us and cannot access the relevant project, contact us with the service and website domain. Avoid creating several duplicate projects while troubleshooting, as this can leave your team comparing different sites or reporting periods by mistake.
Common questions
Must a search competitor sell the same product?
It can be a publisher or directory competing for the same attention. Label that difference so you do not compare its business model directly with your own.
Should I select the largest brand?
Include it only when its audience and search topics are relevant. Comparable specialist businesses often provide more useful near-term examples.
Will marketgoo show a competitor's actual private analytics?
Competitor comparisons rely on the tool's available public and modelled data. They do not give you access to another company's private analytics account or confirmed sales.
